User Plane

UP User Plane Data Plane

UP (User Plane), carries subscriber traffic, throughput focused, often called the data plane. Responsible for carrying actual user data (such as voice, video, files, etc.) Often contrasted with the CP which handles signalling and control messages.

Not the same thing as User Layer which generally refers to the layer in the protocol stack where user application interact with the network or the highest layer where user-related functions reside.
