Preamble

In 5G context, preamble generally refers to the known signal that a UE transmits (or detects) to start / synchronize a procedure, most commonly in the RACH process. The part of the transmission that helps the network/receiver identify that an access attempt is happening and then proceed to the next steps of the procedure.
