FDD Frequency Division Duplex
Duplexing method to enable bidirectional (Uplink and Downlink) communication between UE
- FDD uses separate Frequency Bands for uplink and Downlink transmissions (known as paired spectrum).
- Both Uplink and Downlink transmissions occur simultaneously.
- Advantages:
- No need for guard periods: lower latency since both directions are always active.
- Well-suited for voice and symmetric data traffic.
- May behave better in high-mobility scenarios.
- Common in traditional cellular systems like GSM, WCDMA, and some LTE/5G deployments.
